Director of DevSecOps Job Description

As a strategic leader, you will oversee Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Cloud Infrastructure, Quality Engineering (QE), Technology Cloud Operations, Organisational Security, Product Security, and Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC). The Director of DevSecOps is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive DevSecOps strategy aligned with company objectives.

  • This role requires leading and mentoring high-performing technology teams to drive business success.
  • The successful candidate will identify, assess, and mitigate DevOps and security risks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • They will embed DevSecOps principles early in design through cross-functional collaboration and establish security policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Championing security automation, including SAST, DAST, SCA, IaC scanning, and container security, is also a key responsibility.
  • Leading SRE teams focusing on incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of system reliability is another critical aspect of this role.
  • The Director will drive continuous improvement in our security posture and champion the 'shift-left' of quality and performance practices.
  • Strategic collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is also essential.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills enable you to lead by example and gain respect from your team, peers, executives, and board.
  • Extensive experience (typically 12+ years with a Bachelor's degree, or 8+ years with a Master's degree) in DevSecOps, preferably in a fast-paced technology-driven environment.
  • A deep understanding of cybersecurity and compliance frameworks, such as NIST, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing enterprise-wide DevSecOps and security strategies and roadmaps is necessary.
  • Knowledge and experience in ITIL practices with a proven track record of implementing and uplifting service management capabilities are also desirable.
  • Experience leading large-scale quality management teams as part of an assurance governance process is a bonus.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire high-performing DevSecOps teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex and ambiguous situations, are crucial.
  • Outstanding communication, influencing, and negotiation skills enable effective conveyance of complex security concepts to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A strong track record of successfully managing complex security projects, incident response, and disaster recovery initiatives is highly valued.
  • Experience in securing cloud-native environments, such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and modern software architectures, is advantageous.
  • Embracing AI and new tools to adapt, learn, and grow is also important.
  • An aptitude for identifying and managing risks is essential in all roles at Zip.
