About the Role:

As a cost controller, you will oversee financial and accounting procedures to ensure effective end-of-month cycle management. This includes preparing comprehensive financial systems, records, reports, and other data to inform senior management decisions and drive profitability.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Compile and review monthly project reports and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Analyze relevant financial reporting from the project's PCR system to develop accurate forecasting and reporting periods.
  • Review and analyze operating results in relation to costs, budgets, and operational policies. Consolidate capital asset, maintenance, and operating budgets.
  • Collaborate in the development of short- and long-term financial reporting and forecasting, and oversee the implementation of agreed financial plans.
  • Prepare schedules for financial reporting in accordance with management and statutory requirements.
  • Assist in the development and input of the project's financial cash flow for reporting purposes for both internal and client requirements.
  • Monitor outstanding debtors and assist project managers in resolving these issues.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the monthly cost-to-date process for input within PCR and reporting at the completion of the end-of-month process.
  • Audit procurement processes to verify that all requisitions and related invoices are authorized by the nominated person.
  • Audit project employee remuneration, including timesheets, to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Interpret financial results and provide recommendations for cost control and profit improvement.
  • Compile, review, and analyze forecast information to evaluate the final financial position of the project.
  • Liaise with external auditors as required to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the training and development of finance and project staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent tertiary accounting qualification.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, statistics, or a relevant discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Highly developed computer skills, with advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
