Job Title:

Microbiome Research Facility Specialist

  • Perform fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) of microbial cells and viruses from various environmental and clinical samples.
  • Coordinate a FACS-based high-throughput culture facility for the isolation of human associated microorganisms.
  • Supervise junior technical staff and maintain the resulting biobank of isolates.

About the Role:

This position will work in the Centre for Microbiome Research, reporting to the CMR Director for supervision, workload management, and performance planning and review.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate the daily operations of the FACS facility.
  2. Develop and implement strategies for maximizing the efficiency and productivity of the facility.
  3. Maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and quality control procedures.

Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in microbiology, molecular biology, or a related field.
  • Strong background in microbiome research, including experience with FACS and microbiological techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
