We're seeking an exceptional Design Manager / Project Manager to lead our high voltage substation design and project delivery initiatives. As a seasoned professional, you'll have the opportunity to bring your expertise to some of Australia's most critical transmission infrastructure projects.

About the Role

You'll be responsible for overseeing the design and delivery of substation and transmission infrastructure, managing multi-disciplinary teams across primary, secondary, and civil works. You'll provide technical governance, quality assurance, and oversight of project planning, scheduling and design coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery & Technical Leadership
    • Lead the design and delivery of substation and transmission infrastructure (132kV to 500kV)
    • Manage multi-disciplinary teams across primary, secondary, and civil works
    • Provide technical governance, quality assurance, and oversight of project planning, scheduling and design coordination
  • Client & Business Growth
    • Act as a trusted advisor, developing strong relationships with utilities and contractors
    • Support bid preparation, pipeline planning, and proposal writing
  • Collaboration & Team Contribution
    • Work closely with Practice and Discipline Leads to support project excellence
    • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to our culture of inclusion, technical excellence and innovation

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in High Voltage substation or transmission design and/or project delivery
  • Strong background in design management, project engineering or interdisciplinary coordination
  • Expertise in 132kV+ substation design, including primary and secondary systems
  • Knowledge of project management tools such as MS Project
  • Client-centric mindset with excellent communication, commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills
