We're looking for a Design Manager / Project Manager – High Voltage (132kV – 500kV) to join our award-winning Energy team. This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-impact role, delivering some of Australia's most critical transmission, substation, and renewable energy infrastructure projects.

What will you do?

As a Design Manager / Project Manager, you'll bring technical strength, project delivery expertise, and client leadership in High Voltage infrastructure. Here's how you'll help bring ideas to life:

Project Delivery & Technical Leadership

• Lead the design and delivery of substation and transmission infrastructure (132kV to 500kV), managing multi-disciplinary teams across primary, secondary, and civil works.
• Provide technical governance, quality assurance, and oversight of project planning, scheduling and design coordination.
• Interface with clients and stakeholders to ensure scope, time, cost and quality targets are achieved on complex high-voltage projects.

Client & Business Growth

• Act as a trusted advisor, developing strong relationships with utilities, developers and contractors.
• Support bid preparation, pipeline planning, and proposal writing.

Collaboration & Team Contribution

• Work closely with Aurecon Practice and Discipline Leads to support project excellence.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to our culture of inclusion, technical excellence and innovation.

What are we looking for?

You'll bring:

• 8+ years of experience in High Voltage substation or transmission design and/or project delivery.
• Strong background in design management, project engineering or interdisciplinary coordination.
• Expertise in 132kV+ substation design, including primary and secondary systems.
• Knowledge of project management tools such as MS Project or CRM platforms.
• Client-centric mindset with excellent communication, commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.
• Bonus points for experience in grid modelling, BESS, hydrogen, or client-side advisory.

What does success look like?

• In your first 3 months, you'll be embedded in a high-performing project team with client exposure and delivery focus.
• By 6 months, you'll be leading packages of work and sections of design.
• After 12 months, you'll be owning client relationships and mentoring others, while shaping the future of Australia's energy grid.
