Job Title: Environmental Planning Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Planning Specialist to join our E&P team in Sydney. The team provides expert advice on environment and planning matters across both public and private sectors, representing government authorities, developers, landowners, property investors, infrastructure providers, and resources companies.

The successful candidate will work closely with a partner and other lawyers, collaborating with partners across corporate, construction, property, and projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing environmental risks and ensuring compliance
  • Licensing, enforcement, and litigation related to pollution and waste
  • Renewable energy projects, including wind and solar farms
  • Native vegetation management and natural resource management
  • Contaminated land remediation and management
  • Strategic planning and development advice
  • Environmental impact assessments
  • Planning agreements and heritage law
  • Litigation in the Land and Environment Court
  • Due diligence for planning and environmental matters
  • Climatic change law and policy
  • Sustainability initiatives, including environmental upgrade agreements

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a reputable environment and planning practice
  • Qualifications as a lawyer
  • A mix of advisory, transactional, and litigation roles
