Career Opportunities: Safety-Driven Operations Leadership

We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our growing team at Huntly. In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of skilled professionals to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of our development function.

This position will be offered on a 12 hours 5 panel production roster working 2 days, 2 nights and 5 days off.

The selected candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a strong safety culture within the mining team.

• Provide strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring to your team. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment and identify and develop talent to help them grow professionally.
• Drive continuous improvement by using lean methodologies and problem-solving techniques. Work to optimize production processes to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Ensure strict compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental regulations. Prioritize safety as the highest value, conducting regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and success. Use this data to make sound, data-driven decisions.
• Effectively allocate resources and manage budgets to support team objectives. Promptly identify and resolve any operational issues.
• Communicate effectively with your team, supervisors, and other stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations.

This role requires a leader who is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on manager. By focusing on people, process, and performance, you can create a high-functioning team that meets and exceeds its goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of Mine Operations (ideally mine development – topsoil and overburden stripping, secondary overburden removal, stockpile and ramp construction, blast pattern preparation)
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams
• Demonstrated versatility, strong coordinating skills, and capable of rapidly acquiring familiarity with and responding to diverse and changing environments.
• A high level of strategic thinking, planning, and problem-solving skills
• You should hold or be willing to complete Schedule 26 - Statutory Supervisor accreditation. We will provide support in obtaining accreditation.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a leadership position or have worked in a similar operation or industry.

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia.
