Job Description

This role involves planning, developing, and reviewing design work. You will produce technical drawings, calculations, specifications, and material take-offs for a project's design, procurement, and constructability aspects.

You will lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. This includes coordinating with clients, facilitating technical discussions and design reviews, reviewing vendor information, project and client design specifications, and collaborating with discipline design inputs.

Responsibilities include solving complex technical issues, ensuring designs comply with all regulations and standards. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's mechanical aspects are met.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to plan and conduct independent scope of work and technical specifications for Civil/Structural design and field investigations on large projects or assignments supporting a global business unit.
  • Lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes using relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, guides, and industry-specific software.
  • Review and approve key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries.
  • Determine the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete based on load or stress requirements.
  • Originates and checks complex Civil/Structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
  • Develop conceptual designs for Civil/Structural engineering projects or projects with specialized or unique requirements.
  • Interview client personnel to determine needs, develop scope for cost estimates, and participate in proposal preparation and presentation.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, supporting implementation and performance reporting.
  • Interpret new or specialized regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
