Job Description

This role involves planning, developing and reviewing design work. The successful candidate will produce technical drawings, calculations and specifications for a project's design, procurement and constructability aspects.

The individual will lead the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. This includes coordinating with clients, facilitating technical discussions and reviewing vendor information and client design specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops independent scope of work and technical specifications for Civil/Structural design and field investigations on large-size projects or assignments in support of a global business unit.
  • Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides.
  • Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders and bid summaries for the project to which assigned.
  • Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis including statics, dynamics and materials engineering.
  • Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry and concrete to ensure proper material is used based on load or stress requirements.
  • Originates and checks complex Civil/Structural engineering deliverables such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications and material requisitions.
  • Develops conceptual designs for Civil/Structural engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.
  • Interviews client personnel to determine their needs, develops scope for cost estimates for services and participates in proposal preparation and presentation.
