Job Description

The Undergraduate Assistant in Midwifery provides care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Midwife. This role is an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate student midwife to join a multidisciplinary team in Maternity Services at Royal North Shore Hospital.

This permanent position involves working one day per week, providing midwifery care to clients within Maternity Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing family-centred antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
  • Ensuring optimal levels of individualised and holistic care in a safe and harmonious environment.
  • Providing optimum level of care to newborns.
  • Providing lactation support consistent with WHO Baby Friendly Initiative standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide care within a multidisciplinary setting.
