Job Title: Assessment and Referral Officer

Care and support organisations across Western Australia seek experienced professionals to conduct assessments with individuals facing homelessness, providing vital information and connections to suitable accommodation and service providers.

This challenging yet rewarding role involves delivering face-to-face services to clients dealing with complex issues such as domestic violence, substance use, mental health, and suicidal ideation.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a high-volume environment, rapidly building rapport and engaging clients via telephone while maintaining exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Daily client note entry into software systems is an essential aspect of this role, ensuring seamless documentation and data management.

About the Role:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide accurate referrals for individuals at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
  • Engage with clients through face-to-face appointments, addressing complex issues including domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health, and suicidal ideation.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, prioritising tasks and managing multiple relationships.
  • Support colleagues within a collaborative team setting.
  • Maintain precise and timely record-keeping through daily entries in client management software.
About You:
  • A recognised tertiary qualification (minimum Bachelor's degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Behavioural Science, or related disciplines.
  • Significant experience in social services (Level 4 or above).
  • Exceptional assessment and interview techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and resilience.
  • Ability to effectively engage and work with diverse clientele.
