We support the Australian Navy and commercial shipping industries with comprehensive ship repair services, maintenance, and asset management capabilities.

Your Role

As a Naval Architect, you will work with our team to provide expert support for diverse projects, including design tasks, analyses, and operations planning.

Responsibilities

  1. Utilise your naval architecture background to support various projects for Naval and commercial customers.
  2. Perform design tasks and analyses appropriate to your experience and knowledge in Naval Architecture.
  3. Plan operations and processes required to complete allocated design tasks, including estimation of staffing, material costs, and quantities.
  4. Leverage your technical strengths to perform a variety of design tasks and ensure schedule adherence.
  5. Review and approve design/maintenance changes and complete regular report writing.
  6. Ensure maintenance schedules are supported and other ad hoc tasks are managed appropriately.
  7. Maintain high-level communication with relevant technical partners.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification as a Naval Architect (or similar) with demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of class societies, experience in Finite Element Analysis, and relevant design standards.
  • Well-developed understanding of hull structural design, interpretation of rule requirements.
  • Well-developed design and drafting skills and experience in the use of CAD packages.
  • Proven ability to interpret technical drawings, produce reports, and operate with an eye for detail.
  • Experience in requirements management and DOORS software is an advantage.

Good to Know

As a Defence security clearance is required, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
