Teaching Opportunity - Special Education Role

The position of a Special Education Teacher is a permanent full-time opportunity, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact on students' lives.

Located in the regional centre of Queanbeyan, our school educates 476 students from diverse backgrounds, fostering a rich and inclusive learning environment.

Our students come from various cultural backgrounds and 22% have English as an additional language or dialect.

We are committed to continually improving opportunities available for our students and graduates, promoting academic excellence and student wellbeing.

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching students with Autism, Behaviour Difficulties, Moderate Intellectual Disability and complex needs including mental health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience in teaching students with Autism, Behaviour Difficulties, Moderate Intellectual Disability and complex needs including mental health.
  • Demonstrated successful classroom management with flexible and adaptive strategies that create a positive learning environment, promoting student wellbeing, authentic relationships, and success.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development of faculty goals, creating a solutions-based culture.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills to build positive relationships with parents and external agencies.

Benefits:

  • A Recruitment Bonus of $20,000 (Conditions Apply).
  • A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
  • An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this role.
