The Role:
Visiting Medical Officer - Plastic SurgeonWe are seeking a specialist plastic surgeon to join our team at Canberra Hospital.
- Job Summary:
- Provide general plastic surgery services to inpatients and outpatients at Canberra Hospital, managing diagnosis, treatment, and care plans aligned with best practice evidence-based care.
- Contribute to the on-call/after-hours roster, collaborating with other specialists, as required to ensure comprehensive coverage throughout the year.
- Participate in clinical governance to maintain high-quality services that adhere to National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, contributing to relevant committees and working groups as necessary.
- Engage in unit management, clinical audit procedures, research, quality improvement activities, policy development, utilisation reviews, and educational activities within the Plastic Surgery Department.
- Utilise digital health systems for safe and timely access to care, ensuring high standards of medical record keeping.
- Contribute to the education and training of the multidisciplinary clinical team, actively participating in the supervision and training of medical staff including interns, resident medical officers, registrars, and fellows.
- Maintain productive relationships with external providers and professionals, providing professional advice/opinions related to the service.
- Perform additional duties as specified in your contract.
About You:
- You will require strong organisational skills and a high level of drive.
- Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate change and provide responsive services to meet clients' needs.
Requirements:
- Be registered or eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner's Regulation Agency (AHPRA), in the relevant specialty with no conditions, undertakings, or reprimands.
- Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) or equivalent specialist qualifications.
- Possess post-fellowship microsurgical fellowship experience at a high-volume international institute and additional focussed head and neck post-fellowship training.
- Hold a current ACT driver's license.
- Understand how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators relate to this role.
- Fulfill the responsibilities of this role as detailed in the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework, and other related frameworks.
- Have had no substantiated performance or behavioural issues in the last three years, no such matters currently under investigation, and have not been found to display behaviours and/or performance inconsistent with the values of the organisation.
