About this role
We are seeking a dedicated Infant Mental Health Specialist to join our team on a fixed term contract, working 32 hours per week until February 2026. The successful candidate will have experience in infant mental health and be able to work independently in infant mental health practice.
The role is situated within the Allied Health Inpatient Team but is a key resource for Infant Mental Health leadership and consultation for all of the services.
The inpatient unit provides acute infant and perinatal mental health assessment and treatment to mothers with significant mental illnesses who are co-admitted with their baby under one year old.
The outpatient services provide a range of mental health interventions in the perinatal period to mothers, mother baby dyad and families with mild to moderate mental illnesses as well as community parenting programs.
This is a senior position with an initial focus in the Mother Baby Unit, and the successful candidate will work closely with the Team Leader, Nurse Unit Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist as part of the leadership group.
The role involves delivering high level professional clinical mental health services to infants at risk of severe and complex mental health, and their carer network, providing evidence-based group and individual interventions within a mother and baby unit, demonstrating expertise in infant and perinatal mental health, contributing to the development of best practice mental health services, maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, establishing referral options and facilitating access to infant mental health services, contributing to quality improvement and research within the organisation, providing clinical supervision and support professional development, acting as a change agent for integrating new concepts into clinical practice, and ensuring delegated responsibilities and key performance indicators are achieved within agreed timeframes.
