About This Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled AI Prompt Engineer to join our Editorial AI Innovation team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for crafting sophisticated language systems that power our newsroom tools.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and make a meaningful impact on the way we communicate with journalists. You will be instrumental in designing, testing, and refining prompts that guide our AI models, ensuring outputs meet the exacting standards required by our journalists.

You will collaborate closely with editorial teams to build tools that enhance workflow efficiency while maintaining the integrity of quality journalism. Develop and fine-tune complex prompts that guide AI models to produce accurate, contextually appropriate responses for diverse journalistic applications.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with journalists and editorial teams to understand workflow requirements and translate them into effective AI interactions
  • Define and document excellence benchmarks for AI outputs, ensuring adherence to accuracy, relevance, tone, and editorial guidelines
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive library of prompt patterns and strategies for organisation-wide use
  • Share insights and successful strategies across teams to drive ongoing improvement and learning
The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A genuine passion for journalism and understanding of modern newsroom operations
  • Curiosity and a strong grasp of language semantics and syntax, coupled with an experimental mindset
  • Demonstrated elementary coding experience, preferably Python, natural language processing (NLP), and prompt engineering using different models
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with both journalists and technical teams
  • Meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy
