Environmental Sustainability Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to fill a key role in our organisation.

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with relevant legislation and approvals, thereby reducing environmental risks and enhancing sustainability.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on environmental approvals and due diligence assessments to guarantee compliance and mitigate potential liabilities.
  • Participate in Energy Upgrades planning and execution, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
  • Offer technical guidance to projects, both short-term and long-term Upgrade projects, to drive operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Review and provide expert advice on environmental monitoring programs and results, enabling data-driven decision making.
  • Manage a register of environmental compliance, identifying and escalating potential non-conformances to prevent reputational damage.
  • Develop and implement an audit schedule to ensure ongoing compliance needs are met, fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.
  • Undertake site travel and support as required, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to the role.
  • Ensure sites and assets comply with environmental licences/permits/approvals and legislation, protecting the organisation's reputation and interests.
  • Support, advise, and review environmental incidents, risks, and opportunities, promoting a proactive approach to risk management.

About You:

  • Tertiary qualifications (Degree) in Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy, Management, Sustainability, or similar field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in environmental management, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and compliance.
  • Current driver's licence, enabling you to conduct site visits and travel as required.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, able to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • High attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Effective planning, time management, and organisational skills, allowing you to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
