About this role
As an Aboriginal Peer Learning Officer, you will play a vital part in delivering compassionate care to patients living with type 2 diabetes. This full-time position is for 12 months and requires travel to Bundjalung Country.
This rewarding role involves working closely with our clinical team to provide respectful and culturally safe support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. You will facilitate regular yarns by phone, videocall, or face-to-face in patients' homes and help patients with technology for health monitoring and communication.
Your responsibilities
- Provide effective and sensitive support to patients from diverse backgrounds
- Facilitate regular connections with patients through various channels
- Organise activities that promote patients' health and well-being
- Liaise with clinical staff regarding patient concerns and needs
- Support patients with technology and health monitoring devices
The skills we need
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively within a diverse team
- Strong understanding of cultural safety principles
- Willingness to travel for face-to-face appointments on Bundjalung Country
- Confidence in using and troubleshooting digital health tools
- Knowledge of privacy practices in a healthcare setting
