At Framestore, we're seeking a talented Groom Artist to join our team and contribute to the creation of stunning visual effects in high-end film projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement hair, fur, and feather grooms for characters and creatures using Framestore's proprietary tools and software.
  • Collaborate closely with Creature FX simulation TDs to ensure seamless integration of dynamics and guide hairs.
  • Work closely with other departments, including Modelling, Rigging, Animation, and Lighting, to ensure a cohesive and high-quality creature workflow.
  • Produce regular render tests to showcase the groom's progress and ensure it meets the highest standards.
  • Meet tight deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality and attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with Production and Leads to ensure smooth project execution.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Previous experience on CG creature projects, with a deep understanding of the technical and aesthetic requirements.
  • Expertise in Maya, with a strong grasp of its tools and features.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline and workflow issues, with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in a Unix/Linux systems environment.
  • Knowledge of dynamic hair simulation or other forms of dynamics.
