Sustainability Professional

The role of Sustainability Engineer is pivotal in supporting the delivery of Property and Asset Services across South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Our organisation requires a skilled professional to join our Defence division and contribute to our new contract with the Australian Department of Defence.

About the Opportunity

As a Sustainability Specialist, you will identify and mitigate key environmental risks related to the maintenance of defence estate and delivery services.

You will lead initiatives related to net zero strategies, change programs, and stakeholder engagement to ensure alignment with strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aligning practices with national waste policy and waste minimisation targets.
  • Identifying opportunities for savings and implementing improvements to energy consumption.
  • Identifying and mitigating key environmental risks related to the maintenance of defence estate and delivery services.
  • Implementing environmental management practices in accordance with Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
  • Conducting comprehensive audits of energy, water, and waste management.
  • Overseeing data collection, analysis, and reporting of energy, water and waste data.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering or Sustainability.
  • Professional certification in environmental management or sustainability desirable.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining environmental management systems.
  • Leadership skills in sustainability initiatives and projects.
  • Proven ability to identify and mitigate environmental risks.
  • Ability to conduct assessments and audits related to energy, water, and waste management.
