About Our Ecological Consultant Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate ecologist to join our team. This role is ideal for graduates or junior ecologists looking to gain entry into ecological consulting.

To be successful, you must have a self-driven interest in ecology and a passion to grow your ecological knowledge. You should be able to work independently in the field and be comfortable liaising with clients face-to-face.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting ecological assessments prior to vegetation removal and fauna habitat clearance
  • Identifying and demarcating threatened plants and habitat for threatened fauna
  • Targeted surveys of threatened flora and fauna
  • Preparing pre-clearing and post-clearing reports

You will also be required to participate in vegetation/habitat clearing activities and assist with relocating displaced fauna.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of NSW flora and fauna
  • Animal handling experience
  • Field experience
  • Report writing skills
  • Drivers' licence (with no conditions)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • GIS experience (preferred, not essential)

This is a field-based role that requires comfort working long hours in the field, including trips away for up to five days. Ideal candidates will have experience driving a 4WD off-road vehicle and be willing to undergo additional training courses.
