About the Role


We are seeking a skilled Cryptographic Technician to join our team at the New Zealand Defence Force. As a key member of our intelligence gathering operation, you will provide critical communications support in a war fighting capacity.


Your Responsibilities



  • Operate highly sensitive and cutting-edge communications equipment to detect, intercept, collect, identify, analyse and exploit electronic emissions in defence of the ship and to gather information to support the mission of the fleet.
  • Present information clearly and concisely to command and provide an overall picture of what is happening from the information collected and analysed.
  • Work closely with other team members to achieve common goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain technical skills and knowledge to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques.

Career Progression and Training


As a Cryptologic Technician, you will undergo comprehensive training to develop your skills and expertise in this field. This will include basic training, job-specific training, and ongoing professional development opportunities.


Salary and Benefits


Our salary package is highly competitive, with a starting salary of $64,177 per annum. You will also be eligible for a range of benefits, including access to subsidised food and accommodation on camp and bases, free and subsidised medical and dental care, and opportunities to travel and gain experience in different roles and locations.


Requirements



  • You must be 18 years old upon completion of recruit course.
  • You must have been a NZ Citizen for a minimum of 10 years.
  • Meet the citizenship & security requirements to gain TSV security clearance for this trade.
  • You must pass a full Psychological Assessment.
  • Complete a 10-year background history check that can be checked with the New Zealand authorities to obtain high level security clearance.
  • You must be medically fit for service.
  • You must meet the minimum entry fitness standards.
