About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our Platform and Data Group at REA Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping our data strategy and driving innovation in data engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and deploy data platforms and systems.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and secure data pipelines and architectures.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop data solutions that meet their needs.
  • Contribute to the development of data management practices and frameworks.
  • Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain platform software and systems using a variety of technologies and disciplines.
  • Collaborate on solution designs and technical problems.
  • Support less experienced team members.
  • Maintain existing platform products and services, including bug fixes and "Business as Usual" feature enhancements.
  • Support production systems.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, data engineering, and platform engineering.
  • Working knowledge across various data management functions, including data governance, metadata management, data quality management, master data management, data modelling, data design, and data security.
  • Passionate about data technologies, services, and platforms.
  • Great communicator who loves collaborating with stakeholders and the tech community to build the best fit-for-purpose products.
  • Solutions-focused individual who can tackle tricky situations.
  • Experience with modern software engineering practices, including test driven development, CI/CD, and DevOps.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and Cloud technologies.
  • Experience with or exposure to Platform Engineering concepts, such as developer tooling and experiences.
  • Experience working with real-time and streaming data frameworks, such as Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Flink is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Python, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation and CDK is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering is highly desirable.
  • Experience with or knowledge of Event Driven Architecture (EDA), or real-time and streaming data systems is highly desirable.
