Emergency Homelessness Response Specialist

Homelessness can have devastating effects on individuals and families, leading to a range of social, emotional, and physical problems. To address this issue, our organisation is seeking an Assertive Outreach Worker to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing flexible and responsive outreach services to people experiencing homelessness, engaging with them, building rapport, and working collaboratively with partner organisations to promote effective referral pathways.
They will also provide advocacy, support, and referrals to clients to enhance their access to essential services and appropriate accommodation. In addition, they will assist clients to develop increased knowledge and life skills to support their reintegration to the community and reduce the likelihood of future crises.
We are looking for someone with a diploma or degree in a relevant area such as community services, social work, or social science, or significant experience working in the homelessness sector. They should also have demonstrated understanding of factors contributing to homelessness, experience in the provision of services to people with complex issues, and experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work and communicate effectively with service staff, service users, community agencies, and other professionals. They should also have demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills, computer literacy, and the ability to exercise sound judgment when directions are not clearly defined.
