Job Summary
We are seeking a Counsellor to provide therapeutic support and guidance to students.
About the RoleThis fixed term, part-time position is available until 2027. The Counsellor will work under broad direction and exercise autonomy in their work, providing a responsive and effective service to enrolled students studying at a university.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive experience in providing therapeutic counselling, assessment, risk assessment and crisis intervention;
- Broad knowledge and understanding of student needs within an education setting;
- Well-developed ability to establish rapport and form a therapeutic alliance with people from diverse backgrounds;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team and liaise, negotiate and resolve conflict in complex situations;
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
- Knowledge and experience of professional practice expectations;
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria: Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive relevant experience; Eligibility to register with a professional body; This position requires a valid Working with Children Check.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality therapeutic counselling, assessment, risk assessment and crisis intervention services to students.
Work collaboratively with academic staff and other stakeholders to deliver an excellent student experience.
Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive relevant experience.
Eligibility to register with a professional body.
A valid Working with Children Check.
