Student Guidance Professional

The Student Counsellor role is a vital part of our university’s support services. As a Counsellor, you will work collaboratively with a large team to provide an effective and responsive service to enrolled students.
Working under broad direction, you will exercise autonomy to assess student needs and deliver short-term interventions using various therapeutic models.
Additionally, you will support academic and professional staff to create a university environment that fosters student wellbeing.
To be successful in this position, you will need:
- Extensive experience in providing therapeutic counselling, assessment, risk assessment, and crisis intervention.
- A strong understanding of the diverse needs of students within a tertiary education setting.
- The ability to establish rapport and form therapeutic alliances with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Qualifications for this role include:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive relevant experience.
- Eligibility to register with the Psychology Board of Australia through AHPRA, and/or the Australian Association of Social Work.
This position requires a valid Working with Children Check.
