About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Research Officer/Postdoctoral Fellow in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology to support projects within the cancer systems biology and systems immunology areas.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the analysis and integration of multi-omic datasets (e.g. RNAseq, ATAC-seq, ChIPseq, spatial omics data) across a variety of different projects including in prostate cancer research.
  • Implement and develop efficient pipelines/approaches for the analysis of these multi-omics data and where necessary develop new custom bioinformatics methods/approaches.
  • Lead the writing of publications relating to the projects.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and students in the Lynn Systems Immunology and Butler Prostate Cancer groups to support the bioinformatics components of their projects.
  • Assist in the smooth running of projects and the wider group.
  • Contribute to development of competitive funding applications.

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

  • MSc or PhD in Bioinformatics, computer science, physics, statistics or other relevant discipline.

Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in genomics/NGS bioinformatics fields.
  • Have a strong track record in bioinformatics as evidenced by prior publications in high impact journals in the field.
  • Have expertise in several of the following areas: bulk RNAseq, ATACseq, ChIPseq, single RNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, metagenomics, multi-omics data integration, network analysis, data visualisation.
  • Have significant prior experience with at least one of the following scripting languages: bash, R, Python and Perl.
  • Be a highly collaborative person, a strong team player, and an excellent communicator.
  • Have the ability to work in an organised, methodical way and to manage multiple ongoing projects.
  • Have attention to detail and a desire to understand a project and the intricacies of the data analysis.
  • Have demonstrated problem solving and communication skills.
