Job Overview

The Cyber Risk Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing an insurance company's risk oversight capabilities.

This position supports the Senior Manager of Cyber Risk in developing, embedding, and continuously improving risk management practices across technology, cyber, and data domains.

This includes ensuring alignment with relevant regulatory expectations, while strengthening operational resilience and risk culture.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Govern and oversee technology, cyber, and data risk management across the enterprise.
  2. Provide practical risk advice that enables business objectives within approved risk appetite.
  3. Use expertise to influence senior leaders to adopt strong, proactive risk practices.
  4. Facilitate identification, assessment, and review of technology, cyber, and data risks.
  5. Review and challenge first line risk management activities, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and treated effectively.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in IT, cyber, and operational risk roles within financial services, with proven expertise in technology and data risk management.
  • Experience in risk oversight within major organisational change or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of relevant regulatory requirements, such as APRA CPS 230/234 and the Privacy Act.
  • Good familiarity with risk management frameworks, including AS/NZS ISO 31000 and COBIT.
