Electrical Switchboard Design Role

We are seeking a highly skilled electrical switchboard designer to join our team in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. As an electrical switchboard designer, you will play a key role in strengthening our delivery team by interpreting client specifications and producing accurate electrical layouts.

In this hands-on role, you will support both production and procurement with your technical expertise, ensuring each switchboard meets compliance, safety, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive switchboard drawings using AutoCAD Electrical and SolidWorks.
  • Select breakers, contactors, relays, metering, enclosures, and other critical components to suit each project's needs.
  • Evaluate design against AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000, and client standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, production teams, and procurement to keep technical deliverables on track.
  • Support FAT/SAT testing, risk assessments, and design reviews—incorporating feedback to refine outputs.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline design workflows, update standard assemblies, and expand the in-house knowledge base.
Requirements:
  • A qualified and experienced diploma or degree holder in electrical engineering with 3–5 years in LV panel or switchboard design.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical and SolidWorks for both 2D and 3D design.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian electrical regulations and manufacturing compliance.
  • Able to liaise effectively with cross-functional teams and present confidently to clients.
  • Excellent documentation habits, able to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic customer-driven manufacturing environment.
