Job Description

The role of Security Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the digital landscape. As a leader, you will oversee a team of engineers and provide technical guidance on vulnerability remediation.

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers to ensure seamless collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide expert technical guidance on vulnerability remediation to drive results-oriented solutions.
  • Drive the development of new security engineering projects to stay ahead of emerging threats.
  • Collaborate with upstream open source projects to enhance vulnerability lifecycle handling.
  • Coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback to foster growth and success.
  • Identify and measure key performance indicators to gauge team health.
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers through clear communication and advocacy.
  • Develop and promote great engineering and organisational practices to drive excellence.
About the Role

The security engineering team's primary responsibility is to respond to emerging threats and aim to secure the open source ecosystem for community and enterprise use. Your work will significantly improve the security of millions of people by addressing potential CVEs and vulnerabilities alongside the lifecycle of Canonical products such as Ubuntu.

About You
  • An impressive academic record from both high school and university.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a relevant STEM field, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path.
  • Proven drive and track record of exceeding expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Organised and able to ensure timely delivery of high-quality results.

  • Solid background in software development, including expertise in support and maintenance.
  • Mastery in programming languages (Go, Java, C, Python, etc.).

  • Experience working in agile development environments.
