Job Role

The Vehicle Acquisitions Specialist plays a vital role in the operational areas of vehicle sourcing and warranty support.

In this key position, you will be responsible for procuring vehicles from auctions and other suppliers nationwide to meet our dismantling needs. At the same time, you will provide critical support to our customers by managing warranty claims and offering over-the-phone assistance to troubleshoot faulty products.

To excel in this role, you must have a solid understanding of the mechanical and automotive repair industry, with strong mechanical background and diagnostic capability across various makes and models.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and assess online auction listings to determine vehicle suitability for dismantling and procurement.
  • Evaluate purchasing options by completing a Bid Buddy valuation for every vehicle acquired.
  • Optimise part selection using available data at the point of valuation to achieve gross margin targets.
  • Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation to enable timely capture and processing of acquired vehicles into our systems.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and ad-hoc reports to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and customer outcomes.
Warranty Support:
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting and diagnosing issues related to faulty products via phone.
  • Provide clear, step-by-step solutions to help resolve product concerns.
  • Apply sound judgment when assessing faulty products and determining appropriate outcomes.
  • Process all warranty paperwork accurately to ensure proper documentation and compliance.
  • Use manufacturer parts catalogues to verify compatibility and determine product interchangeability.
  • Manage labour spend and credit return budgets effectively to ensure optimal results.

Requirements:
  • Sound knowledge of the mechanical and automotive repair industry.
  • Strong mechanical background with diagnostic capability across various makes and models.
  • Ability to troubleshoot product faults and provide step-by-step solutions over the phone.
  • Experience using Pinnacle and Bid Buddy systems highly regarded.
  • Skilled in interpreting manufacturer parts catalogues and determining interchangeability.
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiating, decision-making, and conflict management skills.
  • High attention to process compliance and adherence to business rules.
  • Well-developed organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent numeracy and reporting capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general computer systems.
