Job Description

A senior artist-tech animation lead is responsible for overseeing and managing advanced creature effects shot work and developing simulation setups for visual effects projects at Moving Picture Company.

They work closely with supervisors, production, and the head of department to ensure their show has the right team and tools necessary for delivery, and is delivered on time based on the production schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement dynamic setups for assigned shots.

  • Run environment dynamics setups for wind settings and interaction.

  • Develop and adapt existing builds to facilitate shot work.

  • Ensure timely execution of tasks and deliver shots at a scheduled time.

  • Communicate with the team to ensure quality of shot work and build work matches requirements.

  • Run dailies sessions with artists to review their work and provide feedback.

  • Collaborate with senior artists and the head of department to develop tools and workflows to improve efficiency.

  • Communicate with the head of department, supervisors, and production to flag issues.

Requirements:
  • Required experience in a vfx environment relevant to CFX.
  • Required experience leading a team in a vfx environment.
  • Required advanced knowledge of Python and/or Vex scripting language.
  • Required general knowledge of physics and anatomy.
  • Expert knowledge of Houdini is required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Maya is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a linux-based environment.
