Job Summary

Rising Sun Pictures is seeking a highly skilled Senior Creature Effects Artist to join our team in Adelaide, Australia. As a key member of our creature effects team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining complex cloth and hair simulation rigs and running simulations within shots.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with rigging, animation, and modeling teams to ensure assets are built and designed for fast and quality deformation.
  • Leverage shot finaling tools within the creature pipeline to ensure quality assets are passed downstream to lighting.
  • Work closely with look development and lighting teams to achieve a believable look to the groom.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in cloth and hair simulation using Maya's Nucleus solvers or Houdini's Vellum Solver.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in creature effects.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant character effects experience in high-end feature film production.
  • Experience with cloth and hair simulation using Maya's Nucleus solvers or Houdini's Vellum Solver.
  • Experience with either Maya's Xgen, Yeti, or Houdini grooming.
  • Knowledge and experience in Python programming.
  • Ability to shot sculpt using custom and standard methods.
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Desired Skills

  • Muscle and flesh simulation experience.
  • Experience with Maya's Python API.
  • C++ experience a plus.
  • A good understanding of object-oriented design patterns.
  • An understanding of traditional rigging techniques, such as puppet development and linear skinning.
