State Tax Manager Job Description

A unique opportunity awaits an experienced Manager or Senior Manager to take on a challenging role in our tax advisory practice.

This position sits at the intersection of technical expertise and strategic influence, offering the chance to advise sophisticated clients on complex state tax matters.

You will provide specialized advice on state taxes to a variety of clients, including mid-market property developers, high-net-worth individuals, and business owners across all states and territories of Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver authoritative advice across areas including GST, land tax, and stamp duty.
  • Cultivate and strengthen long-term relationships with influential clients, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
  • Assist with investigations and other compliance activities undertaken by revenue offices, as well as dealing with disputes with revenue offices.
  • Contribute to thought leadership and firm-wide training and business development opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Deep technical expertise in state tax, enabling you to navigate complex legislation and provide clear, commercial advice.
  • A proven track record of managing client relationships across diverse industries and client groups.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship skills, with the ability to engage senior decision-makers.
  • A collaborative, future-focused leader with intellectual curiosity and resilience.
  • CPA or chartered accountant qualified.
  • A strong academic foundation in accounting, law, or a related business field.
