Research Fellow

About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to contribute to cutting-edge research in multi-drone path planning and image processing for methane emission measurement.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply control theory principles to path planning for coordinated multi-drone operations.
Develop and implement image processing techniques for accurate methane emission measurement using drone-captured data.
Use satellite imagery to support and enhance drone-based measurements and operations.
Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments involving multi-drone systems.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers, and external partners.
Publish research findings in reputable journals and present at conferences.
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in related projects.
Qualifications:
PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
Demonstrated expertise in control theory, and satellite imagery.
Proficiency in IT and programming skills, including experience with relevant software and tools (MATLAB, Python, C++, ROS).
Hands-on experience with drone technology, including setup, calibration, and operation of multi-drone systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Selection Criteria:
A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
Proven high level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching and learning.
A significant contribution to scholarship in teaching and learning with an emerging record of success in winning external grants to support teaching projects and initiatives.
A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
An emerging record of peer reviewed publications in high quality journals.
Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and unit/course coordination.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead teaching and learning initiatives and provide mentoring to less experienced staff.
Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures, and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
