Industrial Designer Job Description

The Design Team is expanding, and we are looking for an experienced Industrial Designer with strong concept and rendering skills. In collaboration with the design team, you will work on developing product concepts, creating engaging in-situ renderings and visual assets, and bringing products from concept to production.

This role reports to the Design Engineering Lead and offers a unique opportunity to design leading-edge equipment and technology within the defence space. As an industrial designer at our company, you will have access to various industry-leading products performing with militaries and government agencies around the world.

Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize, develop, and refine new products that align with our established design language.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and refine product concepts.
  • Present original design concepts and solutions through sketching, 3D modelling, rendering, and rapid prototyping.
  • Produce high-quality product renderings with textures, lighting, and in-situ environments.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure project outcomes meet expectations.
  • Manage product changes, development of new accessories, and Bill of Materials (BoMs).
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Relevant degree in product or industrial design or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Portfolio showcasing design process and presentation skills.
  • Expertise in product visualization and rendering (Keyshot preferred).
  • Proficiency in software tools such as Solidworks and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience in complex surface modelling.
  • Strong conceptual and form-giving skills.
  • Strong ideation and sketching skills to communicate ideas effectively.
  • Understanding of design for manufacture principles.
  • Photography and video editing skills are desirable.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest technologies, tools, and methods.
  • Prior experience working in Defence, medical, aerospace, or consumer electronics is beneficial.
