Job Overview

  • The successful candidate will provide oral health promotion to young children and their families within the Smiling Starts program.
  • They will implement preventive programs in community groups, screen and dental care for children where necessary, maintain patient records, refer patients requiring care beyond the scope of Smiling Starts, supervise and guide Dental Clinic Assistants and student Dental Assistants.
  • Continuing professional development/education and ensuring continuous eligibility for relevant dental practitioner registration will be essential.
  • Participating in regular peer review and case review meetings.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing preventive programs in community groups.
  • Screening and dental care for children where necessary, according to DHS policies.
  • Maintaining patient records and central management records in accordance with DHS policies.
  • Referring patients requiring care beyond the scope of Smiling Starts via the appropriate referral pathway.
  • Supervising and guiding Dental Clinic Assistants and student Dental Assistants.

 

Requirements:

  • Eligibility for registration as an Oral Health Therapist or Dental Therapist by the Dental Board of Australia.
  • A current 'C' or 'C.A.' class driver's license.
  • Western Australian Working With Children (WWC) Check.
