Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking an experienced EL1 Policy Specialist to join our team at Compas Pty Ltd, a leading recruitment and services company. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful change, supporting emergency service personnel during critical incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Development: Support the development of an Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA), including negotiating, analyzing, and drafting specific clauses.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders and maintain project logs for tracking and resolution of issues.
  • Written Communications: Draft clear written materials, submissions, and briefs for executive and Ministerial audiences.
  • Project Coordination: Assist in project coordination, including risk identification and management, and governance reporting.

Essential Criteria

  • Policy Experience: Demonstrated experience in policy development and implementation, including preparation of Cabinet submissions.
  • Writing Skills: Proven ability to write clear, concise, and complex documentation.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Legal Qualifications: Legal qualifications or experience in a legal policy setting.
  • Government Relations: Experience in Commonwealth-State relations and/or drafting legal agreements.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance: This role requires a Baseline Security Clearance and Australian Citizenship.
