Underground Geologist Role Overview

Westgold Resources is seeking an experienced Underground Geologist to play a pivotal role in driving optimum ore extraction and contributing to the success of our leading operation.

This position entails taking charge of detailed underground geological mapping, guiding ore headings with confidence, and ensuring nothing valuable goes unnoticed.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily production data and ore tracking, showcasing their geological skills by delivering thorough and structured core logging.

We are looking for an individual with a minimum of one year's experience working in an underground environment who meets the following criteria:

  • 2-3 years of industry experience in mine geology and grade control practices
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience underground
  • Understanding of geology work standards and practices
  • Experience working within narrow vein gold mining (highly desirable)
  • Contractor management and familiarity with mine planning (highly desirable)
  • Intermediate skills with modelling software and database software
  • Understanding of safety regulations and effective communication and problem-solving skills
