Financial Crime Investigator

This role is ideal for an experienced investigator seeking a challenging position in the field of financial crime. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for leading complex investigations and providing expert advice on AML/CTF legislation.

About the Role:

  • Lead investigations into suspicious activity and transaction monitoring alerts, ensuring regulatory compliance and clarity.
  • Develop and implement effective procedures to enhance internal controls and maintain strong financial crime risk management.
  • Provide strategic advice on financial crime risks and industry best practices, as well as conduct trend analysis and generate insightful reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Team Manager, providing guidance on complex investigations and escalations.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) and Unusual Activity Reports (UARs), identifying red flags and grounds for suspicion.
  • Liaise with law enforcement agencies, vendors, and other financial institutions as required, maintaining strong relationships and communication channels.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in AML/CTF investigations, with expertise in AUSTRAC reporting requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft high-quality investigation reports and SOPs.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Code of Banking Practice, AML legislation, FATCA, and related frameworks.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
