About us
The Financial Crime Operations (FCO) team sits within the Financial Crime Services (FCS) space. FCS is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing leadership of the Groups financial crime shared services.

FCO leads the Group's approach to managing Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) and Sanctions risks and obligations through the provision of operational services such as TM, ECDD, Sanctions and KYC. These streams work together to support the FCS purpose of Relentlessly Pursuing the Elimination of Financial Crime.

As a Financial Crime Senior Analyst, you will contribute to the Group's AML/CTF obligations with respect to the Group's Part A and Part B Programme and FATCA/CRS requirements. The role requires you to:

  • Forge strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including peer team members of the squad you are embedded in to provide advice for the future state AML/CTF Financial Crime.
    • Multi-task across various functions and streams. You will assist our people and play a part in uplifting capability and processes. You are also required to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, resulting in process improvement and enhanced customer experience within Financial Crime.
      • Identify trends and report on these in line with our Vision; to excel at securing and enhancing the financial wellbeing of people, businesses, and communities.
        • Action cases across either Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD) with an opportunity to upskill to Transaction Monitoring (TM) to support the group in managing its financial crime obligations. Both will require high attention to detail and accuracy to ensure quality outcomes to our customers.
          • Contribute to the Group's goal of NPS+30 in 3 years and will play an important role in protecting our community.
            • Your approach to prudential risk management when identifying and responding to business risks, as well as identifying opportunities to improve processes within your team/work stream, will be vital in the Group's relentless pursuit of the elimination of financial crime.

About your role and responsibilities:

As a Senior Analyst AML/CTF Ops, you will be responsible for:

  • Building effective relationships with a range of stakeholders including peers, leaders, QA, L1 Risk partners, FCC, and technology delivery teams.
    • Completing ad-hoc projects, tasks or research where required.
      • Assisting with testing, developing, and delivering SOPS/Training materials.
        • Providing expert knowledge on operational needs and processes.
          • Translating Group Policy and Standards into operational impacts and business requirements for implementation into FCO processes and operating level agreements.
            • Capture and document your due diligence, findings and decision rationale within the relevant alert and case management systems.
              • Minimise, monitor, and report risk.
                • Maintain an up-to-date focus on Financial Crime, security related trends and emerging issues and share knowledge obtained.
                  • Act in a discrete and confidential manner to ensure the Groups policies and processes remain confidential, and tipping-off provisions are not breached.
                    • Take accountability for your own key performance indicators as well as contributing to the team's performance/targets inclusive of team culture.
                      • Encourage yourself and others to participate in FCO strategy days, huddles and people and culture survey action planning.
                        • Operate within delegated authorities and follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
                          • Drive your own development plan and monthly 1 on 1/coaching discussions.
                            • Champion continuous improvement culture within the team and consistently look for new opportunities to further raise ideas and follow through.
                              • You will be required to assist with productivity output of alerts by being on the system/tools daily or as requested by managers.
                                • You will be responsible for providing insights on all Quality Assurance data and work collectively to provide feedback and coaching.
                                  • Utilise data to quantify skills and knowledge gaps and design solutions to provide coaching.
                                    • Detailed analytical abilities with excellent organisational skills.

You will report directly to a Financial Crime Operations Manager. This position has 0 direct reports.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Experience in AML/CTF & Sanctions operations experience, Transaction Monitoring, Suspicious Matter Reporting, High Risk Customers, Politically Exposed Persons, Sanctions, Terrorism Financing and Payments.
  • Experience in handling Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) and processes.
    • Experience in a fast-paced, high volume operational environment preferred.
      • Drive and a willingness to learn multiple streams across FCO.
        • Comprehensive system knowledge Pegasus, Jarvis, Sirius, HRC Models, CommSec systems and other internal systems.
          • Highly developed or advanced written and oral communication skills.
            • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and solve problems rapidly, with strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
              • Strong understanding of AML/CFT Typologies and red flags.
                • Highly capable and agile in a rapidly changing environment.
                  • Strong internal and external customer service ethic and focus.
                    • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
