About the Job

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as an Environmental Sustainability Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our transport infrastructure projects meet the highest environmental standards.

As an Environmental Sustainability Specialist, you will work closely with our Environmental Manager and Principal Environment Advisor to provide technical advice, conduct site inspections, and ensure compliance with environmental legislation.

You will have a strong background in environmental management and a deep understanding of the legislative requirements governing our industry. You will be knowledgeable in a broad range of environmental issues, including contaminated sites, groundwater management, vegetation management, Aboriginal heritage, asbestos management, and noise and vibration management.

Strong relationship-building skills are essential for this role, as you will work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders. You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with senior-level stakeholders and communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation and its application to the delivery of transport infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and managing environmental and Aboriginal heritage consultants.
  • Relevant, practical experience in environmental management as it relates to the delivery of transport infrastructure projects.
  • Site compliance and assurance experience on construction projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with a broad range of environmental issues such as contaminated sites, groundwater management, vegetation management, Aboriginal heritage, asbestos and noise and vibration.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term opportunity available until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months.

Salary: $105,000 - $135,000 per annum
