Job Title: Research and IP Legal Counsel

This is a full-time, permanent position that requires an experienced legal professional to provide advice on legal issues relating to contract, commercial, and intellectual property law matters. The role involves working with the university's research activities and other intellectual property interests and transactions.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial, contract, and intellectual property law, as well as demonstrated ability to draft a wide variety of legal documents and handle complex legal issues. They will also possess strong written and oral communication skills, be able to build and sustain positive relationships with team members and stakeholders, and demonstrate time management and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely, high-quality legal advice to senior executives and decision-makers across the organisation
  • Advise on legal issues related to contract, commercial, and intellectual property law matters affecting the organisation's research activities and other intellectual property interests and transactions
  • Manage the provision of legal services outsourced to external providers, ensuring value for money, quality, and timeliness of work produced
Requirements:
  • Admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland
  • Minimum 3 years post-admission experience in commercial, contract, and intellectual property law
  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting a wide variety of legal documents and handling complex legal issues

The successful candidate will be flexible and adaptable, able to work in a broad range of practice areas, and undertake tasks at various levels of complexity. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to build and sustain positive relationships with team members and stakeholders, and demonstrate time management and organisational skills.
