Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Liaison Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and culturally sensitive individual to join our team as a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) at Feros Care. As a LAC, you will play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families to access and navigate the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Key Responsibilities- Assist individuals and families to access information about the NDIS and provide support with enquiries about the scheme.
- Work collaboratively with participants to develop a plan that includes their goals, needs, and wishes.
- Provide information, linkages, and supports to individuals who are not eligible for the NDIS scheme, as well as their families and carers.
- Act as a subject matter expert, working collaboratively with communities to strengthen capabilities and adopt sustainable capacity building and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships, partnerships, and alliances with government, community groups, organizations, and peak bodies.
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and cultures.
- A genuine desire and modern approach to empowering First Nation people with disability.
- Formal qualifications are not necessary but would be highly regarded.
- Solid understanding of Windows applications, mobile technology, and remote working.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A person-centred approach to outcomes, confidentiality, and professional integrity.
- Demonstrated experience or sound understanding of planning, implementing, and evaluating community engagement events with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
