Lead Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a senior mechanical engineer to join the maintenance leadership team on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the engineering and maintenance manager, you will be responsible for statutory responsibilities at an open-cut coal mine. You will also lead the development and optimization of maintenance strategies, specifications, and engineering standards to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective equipment performance across the site.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and deploy strategic mechanical engineering initiatives in alignment with the engineering and maintenance strategy.
- Act as the statutory mechanical engineer for the site, ensuring compliance with safety obligations and legislation.
- Represent the mechanical discipline in strategic planning sessions, including life-of-mine planning and risk assessments.
- Approve mechanical inputs into life-of-mine equipment strategies, asset capability assessments, and risk-based maintenance plans.
- A tertiary qualification in engineering or a related discipline is required (e.g., Master of Engineering Management).
- The relevant practicing certificate for mechanical engineering manager is preferred.
- Supervisor and risk facilitator competencies (S1, S2, S3 & G2, G3) are essential.
