About This Role

As an Electrical Distribution Planning Engineer, you'll be responsible for undertaking engineering assessments, investigations, and designs associated with Western Power or Customer facilities connected to the Distribution Network.

  • You'll produce and/or check designs and estimates for projects encompassing materials, labour, sub-contract services, and costing for work associated with the Distribution Network.
  • You'll provide technical support across other work groups.
  • You'll complete all documentation, ordering of materials, entering, and maintaining information in applicable computer systems.
  • You'll undertake contract administration to ensure contractor compliance to specification and identify non-conformances of contractors.
  • You'll respond to customer correspondence and answer questions from the general public, various Govt Dept's, and industry on quotes issued via DQM.
  • You'll ensure compliance with all Western Power standards, quality, legal, and contractual requirements as appropriate.
  • You'll schedule and plan your daily and weekly allocated work in order to meet agreed targets.
About You

We're seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • A Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Eligible for corporate membership of The Institution of Engineers, Australia.
  • At least 4 – 6 years demonstrated engineering experience, preferably in an electrical utility.
  • Experience in design management.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering standards, regulations, and procedures preferably within a Distribution network environment.
  • Interaction with others requires understanding, influencing, and supporting people, through applying technical knowledge or rational arguments.
  • Knowledge of distribution design standards (desirable).
  • Proficient in Microstation and Poles n Wires (desirable).
