Job Title: Legal Practice Manager, Native Title

At Davidson, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Practice Manager to lead our Native Title and Litigation legal practice. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a passionate and dedicated team of legal professionals who are committed to securing, protecting, and advancing native title rights over land, sea, and waters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the Native Title and Litigation legal practice, ensuring that it provides culturally competent legal services to our clients and stakeholders.
  • Lead, develop, and empower team members to foster a people-centered culture of continuous improvement.
  • Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with Traditional Owners and other stakeholders.
  • Represent and advise our clients and native title holders in accordance with the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).
  • Work on complex litigation matters with the assistance of external legal counsel as required.
  • Ensure workloads and budgets are appropriately managed, including completing funding applications and meeting governance requirements.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated people management experience and a genuine passion for leading, developing, and motivating small teams.
  • At least 5 years of post-admission experience, ideally in native title law and/or resources and energy, litigation, corporate, commercial, environmental, and planning law.
  • Cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A resilient mindset in the face of pressure and the ability to effectively manage a busy workload, consistently meet deadlines, and progress complex legal matters in a proactive and autonomous manner.
