Residential Care Specialist

The Residential Care Specialist provides care and/or support to children and young people in out of home care and/or living within at risk families.
This role enhances opportunities for the young person to participate in age-appropriate activities, supporting development of positive self-regard, community inclusion, positive relations with family of origin, and contributes to placement stability.
Responsibilities:
- Planning and engaging in meaningful activities with the young person.
- Being a vital part of a cohesive team, dedicated to helping young people achieve their personal goals.
- Promoting good hygiene and nutrition.
- Maintaining daily case notes, handling administrative tasks, and preparing incident reports.
Requirements:
- A Certificate IV or higher qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services, or a related field.
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children's Check QLD).
- Current Licensed Care Service (LCS).
- Completion of Hope and Healing Framework training.
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence.
- The ability to provide two recent referees of supervisors.
- Availability to work day, evening and weekend shifts, including sleepovers or awake shifts is essential for current needs. Availability to work 5 out of 7 days a week inclusive of every second weekend.

- Proactive communicator and relationship builder with others from diverse backgrounds.
- Utilize trauma-informed approach in understanding child development and behaviour.
- Capability to recognize the role of family dynamics, particularly in child protection contexts.
- Supportive of youth in activities and foster independent living skills.
- Effectively contribute to team outcomes.
- Ability to operate autonomously while seeking guidance as needed.
- Able respond to crises flexibly, considering risk and compliance.
- Understanding of provision of care in accordance with the Child Protection Act 1999.
