Market Risk Analyst Role Summary
This is a challenging and dynamic role within our Market Risk Team, based in Sydney. The successful candidate will play a key part in supporting the team responsible for running and maintaining the Value at Risk calculation engine that calculates capital for our market-facing activities.

In this role, you will be responsible for running and analyzing VaR results, reporting to senior management and assisting with planning and management of team deliverables. You will devise model and process enhancements, calibrate model parameters and assist with implementing changes required for regulatory developments, particularly the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book.
You will assess the impact of regulatory capital from new products, businesses and trading strategies and work on calculating regulatory and economic capital, ensuring compliance with APS116.
Our Risk Management Group is an independent and centralized function responsible for reviewing and challenging Macquarie's material risks. Our divisions include Compliance, Credit, Financial Crime Risk, Internal Audit, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Prudential Risk, and Risk Management Group Central.
Key Responsibilities:
- Run and analyze VaR results
- Report to senior management
- Assist with planning and management of team deliverables
- Devise model and process enhancements
- Calibrate model parameters
- Implement changes required for regulatory developments
Requirements:
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Keen interest in and fundamental knowledge of financial markets
- Tertiary qualification in finance, mathematics, statistics, engineering or a related discipline
- Ability to balance being immersed in detailed day-to-day activities while managing longer-term activities and objectives
- High performer with experience working in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Experience or interest in coding, in Python or similar languages, is advantageous
