Job Title: Category Development Leader

The role of Category Development Leader is a senior position that oversees the development and execution of category strategies within the pharmacy channel, with a primary focus on Chemist Warehouse.

This role reports to the Director of Category & Brand Experience and is based in Sydney.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute long-term category strategies aligned with business goals and customer priorities, particularly within Chemist Warehouse and the broader pharmacy channel.
  • Built strong partnerships with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain) and external stakeholders to drive alignment and shared success.
  • Lead change initiatives across the channel, introducing new ways of working, process improvements, and capability development.
  • Represent as a category expert, influencing customer strategies and contributing to the health and wellness agenda.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Category Managers and Assistant Category Managers, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Own the commercial performance of the pharmacy channel, including promotional planning, pricing strategy, and performance tracking.
  • Lead range reviews and space planning to maximize distribution, visibility, and category performance.
  • Utilize shopper insights and data analytics to inform strategy, identify growth opportunities, and measure impact.
  • Help shape the innovation agenda with clear category opportunities and future growth platforms grounded in trend and insight.

Requirements:

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in business, economics, commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years in senior roles across category management or customer/channel leadership, with a strong track record of delivering strategic outcomes.
  • Proven experience in the pharmacy channel, particularly with Chemist Warehouse and health & wellness categories.
  • Ability to build and maintain influential relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders to drive mutual growth.
  • Exceptional skills in data analysis, insight generation, and strategic planning to inform category decisions and commercial strategies.
  • Demonstrated success working within fast-paced, cross-functional teams to deliver integrated business solutions.
  • Strong understanding of promotional strategy, pricing, and commercial performance metrics within retail environments.
